Applesauce Bread

  • 3 cups all-purpose
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups applesauce
  • 1 cup raisins (optional)
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teapsoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup sour cream

Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease and flour two 9 x 5 inch loaf pans.

Beat together eggs, sugar, and oil. Blend in applesauce, and then sour cream of buttermilk. Sift together and then mix in flour, baking powder, soda, and cinnamon. Stir in raisins. Pour batter into prepared pans.

Bake for 80 minutes. Check after 60 minutes, may need to tent foil to prevent over-browning. Cool on wire racks.
